World Food Day
October 16, 2018 marks the 38th World Food Day. The theme for this year is working for zero hunger.
World Food Day is celebrated around the world on Oct 16, in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945.
Conflict, extreme weather events linked to climate change, economic slowdown and rapidly increasing obesity levels are reversing progress made in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.
Roughly one-third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year-approximately q.3 billion tons-gets lost or wasted.
